CSI Case File #118 - Puppy Lovin'!

It's that time again!  CSI is back with another great casefile, and this one is accompanied by a fab Em Stafrace sketch!  CLICK HERE to see how the rest of the design team cracked the case!

Here is the case file:

And here's my layout.  Oddly enough, when I saw these colors I envisioned doing a much different layout...but sometimes things decide to go in a much different direction than expected.  That's life, isn't it?  ;-)

So all the colors are there, and for evidence I chose hearts, arrows, animal print, and doodling. I used the "all about me" prompt about what makes me truly happy and wrote about puppies. (I am a serious animal lover and would have a houseful of dogs if the hubs would let me!) Hard to see on the photo but journaling says: "Nothing beats kisses and cuddles from a chunky little puppy...except kisses and cuddles from two chunky little puppies!"

Here's a couple of closeups:

Happy FRIDAY!  Thanks for stopping by!!

CSI CF# 114 - How Many?

TGIF!!  No, seriously...T.G.I.F.  OMG not a moment too soon.  It's been a crazy couple of weeks around here and I am ready for the weekend!  But first, it's time to reveal CSI's latest case file, complete with an amazing and inspirational sketch from none other than Em Straface of Page Drafts!  CLICK HERE to see the full reveal and the rest of the design team's amazing layouts! Here's the case file and sketch:

And here's my take on it.

I switched up the "v" and put it left to right vs. up and down.  Other than that, I stayed pretty true to the sketch.  The photo was edited with Aviary and then I covered it with a layer of All Night Media's Liquid Embossing in Antique Photo.  I have had this stuff in my stash since I started scrapbooking about 8 years ago!  My evidence is circles and...crap I just realized I only have one piece of evidence. Sometimes I get carried away working on a layout and completely forget to follow the prompts! Can we take the "numbers" piece of evidence and count that since I journaled about "how many?'  Please?  :)

I started out with a layer of teal Heidi Swapp Color Shine spray behind the photo and then added some drops of black here and there.  The "Je T'aime" stamp is a great little $1 Michael's find and the gorgeous butterflies on the jute twine are a handmade item from a prior month's Citrus Twist Kit.

For the arrows, I alternated vellum floral arrows with stenciled arrows that were covered with modeling paste and then colored with another circular stencil.  I've done this on a few layouts (made arrows from stencils and modeling paste) and I really like the dimension it gives.  Man I love modeling paste. <3

Finally, for the journaling, I used International Question Day as my inspiration.  My journaling touches on something I find myself wondering more and more every day as I watch my daughter grow...she has so quickly gone from being a baby to a big girl and I am holding tight to the little moments of toddler-hood that we have left.  I think that most moms can relate to these musings...

Anyway, come play along with us at CSI!  I can't wait to see what you create!  Have a FABULOUS weekend!

Double Post featuring CSI #110 and Page Drafts (doing double duty!)

Here's a 2-for-1 post featuring the fabulous sketches created by Page Drafts!  First up is CSI Case File #110.  CLICK HERE to play along.  Every 2nd week of the month the case files over at CSI feature an exclusive sketch from the oh so fabulous Em Straface.  Here is the file and sketch:

And here's my layout featuring the Beaubster.  My evidence is a pet accent (the paw brad) and solid background.  Another fun little tidbit is that the black yarn in the layout is a piece of his woven slipper, which had fallen off.  My testimony is on the white tag behind the photo and basically tells a shortened version of the story below:

Beau has a thing for shoes.  And socks.  And gutting stuffed toys with squeakers in them.  When he's done gutting a toy, there is stuffing everywhere, and the toy usually looks like a limp carcass.  It's gross.  Oddly, he has never unstuffed the head of any of his stuffed toys-he collects the empty shell (which is currently in goose form) and his slipper and gets on his bed and sucks on them.  Yes you heard right.  He sucks on them.  Like a pacifier.  LOL  He has been doing this since he was a puppy and it seems to calm him down and comfort him or something...just like a binky or paci to a baby.  Bizarre and hilarious because it's not something you'd expect to see a 100 lb dog doing!

Here are a couple of closeups.  I used cotton balls to simulate the stuffing that he pulls from the toys, and a bunch of leftover odds and ends I had in my stash.  I am not even going to attempt to tell you who made what.  LOL

Then my second layout is based on a sketch that is running on Page Drafts right now as part of their "Love is Everywhere" February challenge.  You have to get over there and see the list of sponsors that are providing the prizes for this challenge.  Let's just say its pretty amazing...like, a grand prize of $150 to buy scrappy supplies with amazing.  Seriously.  CLICK HERE to check it out.

Here is the challenge sketch I chose to work with.

Being Valentine's Day I thought it'd be nice to do a page about my honey and me.  I started out by layering some washi tape under the photo and then used a lot of mists and some gelatos on the background.  For the hearts, I misted a 12x12 Heidi Swapp hearts stencil with 3 shades of reds, from brick red to light pink, cut them out, and mod podged and glittered a few of them.  Used the DIYS Thickers again and this time colored them with silver Perfect Pearls. My little Valentine's Day shout out to the hubs. :)

Here are a couple of closeups.  Enjoy your weekend!

Beau is on the blog today!

Happy Sunday, friends!  Today I have a layout featuring the Beaubster, getting into the spirit of the holidays with a handmade Native American headband.  He is such a good sport!

Of course this layout comes to you courtesy of CSI's latest case file, and an awesome sketch by Em Stafrace of Page Drafts.

All of the colors are there, and for my evidence I chose gold accents, feathers and doodles.  I chose the Testimony prompt to journal about a holiday and just added a little blurb about how even Beau gets into the Thanksgiving spirit. (he loves him some turkey too, folks!)

This week's colors were a real challenge for me and when I can't find papers in the colors needed, I usually resort to my trustee Faber Castelle gelatos, as I did here.  I also used some more of the feather printables from ScrapFriends and colored them with gelatos.  Here are a couple of close-ups.

I layered two sets of Thickers to make the title and really like the effect that it made with the shadowing.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look!  I hope you will come play along with us this week over at CSI.  I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
