Sketchabilities #110 DT Reveal!

Time for the reveal of Sketchabilities sketch challenge #110!  It's a gorgeous sketch and was a total challenge for me.  I am finding that these sketches all seem to "feel" like they're meant for mixed media layouts, so I am continuing to branch out and try different mixed media techniques.

Definitely come play along with us by CLICKING HERE because we've got great sponsors and giveaways for this reveal...how about a $25 gift certificate to the Silhouette online store?  Or a $25 gift certificate to Creative Embellishments? Keep reading to the bottom of this post to enter the giveaways!

So here's my layout.  And yes, you aren't imagining it.  I did scrap another photograph of a latte.  But this one has a leaf swirled into the foam, so it's different.  So there.  Hehe

I used a lot of "stuff" on this page...toilet paper roll and paper cups for the coffee rings, Tim Holtz bronze disress ink for some splats, some antique gel for the tags, a stencil, and bits and pieces of different embellies and papers from my stash.  The border is washi tape (sorry it's a little crooked).  Here are a couple of closeups.

Thanks for stopping by!  Please stop back tonight as I reveal CSI's latest case file and a pretty little layout of my mini as a newborn.  Have a great Friday!!

My 1st DT Reveal for Sketchabilities!

So excited that this day has finally arrived!  I am so proud to be a member of the fabulous design team at Sketchabilities and am looking forward to challenging myself and growing as a crafter through these amazing sketches.  Today I am sharing Sketch #109 and my take on it.  I am finding, already, that these sketches are a challenge to me and I am thankful for that challenge!  Here is the sketch.  You have 2 weeks to upload your take on it to the Sketchabilities blog for a chance to win some fabulous prizes from this month's sponsor, Chapel Road Stamps.

Here is my take on it.  I thought it was a perfect chance to showcase the little lady's stint as Rapunzel this past Halloween. :)  Lots of background work here.  First I muted the background patterened paper hue by putting a diluted layer of gesso over it.  Then I used my Tim Holtz stamps to add some brown text stamping.  Then I used a script stencil and modeling paste to add some more lettering, which I then painted over with some diluted purple gelatos.  While I am not much of a vintage scrapper, I am really happy with the fairytale vibe of this layout.  Thank you for having a look!  I hope to see you play along with us at Sketchabilities this month!

Omnom!

Hey there!  Today I want to share a layout I made for the latest sketch over at Sketchabilities.  There is still a couple of days left to play along, so CLICK HERE to give it a try!

I started out with a completely different picture and color scheme in mind but after 2 hours of trying to get my vision onto paper, I decided it was time to start over.  Hate it when that happens!  In this case, though, it worked out because I love the way this came out.  One of my favorite pictures of the kiddo and her trusty sidekick and big brother, Beau.  She was barely a week old in this photo and Beau was still trying to figure out where this little human came from and what her story was.  When he came in for a closer look and a sniff, his snout was mistaken for breakfast.  Haha!

Lots of Citrus Twist Kits goodies featured on this page, and 2 new shades of Heidi Swapp Color Shine (primrose and navy) that I am absolutely LOVING.

Hope you got a giggle out of this photo and layout.  Enjoy your day!
